Zone Break

A simple zone offense that uses ball reversal and timed cuts to collapse a 2-3 defense for layups or post-ups.

Breakdown

  • Designed to attack multiple zones, but especially effective vs. a 2-3.
  • Keep the defense shifting with crisp passes and quick ball reversals.
  • When 1 cuts through, the weak-side wing defender is likely to follow.
  • 5 times their cut to seal or dive, and 3 delivers the pass for either a layup or a 1-on-1 post-up.

Coaching Tip

Stress patience and ball movement. The zone will eventually open — the key is reversing the ball quickly and hitting the cutter in rhythm.
