Pass & Go Shooting

How it Works

Set two lines at the elbows, each with a ball. A coach stands in the middle as the passer. The first player in each line passes to the coach, immediately cuts hard to a designated spot, receives the return pass, and shoots. After the shot, players rebound and flow to the opposite line so the drill keeps moving without stops. The rhythm feels similar to the inside-to-outside movement you build in Pass the Rock. The focus on clean passing lines connects well to the teamwork patterns in Bridge Builders. If you want to add more awareness or reaction, you can bring in simple cues like those used in Passing Tag.

Progression Or Variation

  • Change the shooting spots to work different angles
  • Add a required fake before the cut
  • Include a dribble move before the shot
  • Add light defensive pressure on the catch
  • Run timed rounds to keep the pace high

Coaching Points

  • Encourage sharp, purposeful cuts after every pass
  • Emphasize catching ready to shoot
  • Keep passes firm and on target
  • Promote quick rebounds to keep the drill flowing
  • Help players stay balanced as they move from cut to finish

Why This Drill Works

Pass and Go Shooting teaches Mini Hoopers how to move with purpose, catch cleanly, and shoot in rhythm. The simple pass-cut-shoot cycle keeps everyone active and reinforces teamwork, timing, and finishing. Kids learn to connect passing to movement and movement to scoring, which builds habits they will use in every age group.
